Pete Gooding chats to our latest signing Bambook about their latest release on the label and the guys deliver a great DJ mix to celebrate the E.P. release on Secret Life.

After a brief meeting with Eiad, one half of Bambook, in Cafe Mambo in 2010, we stuck up a friendship and have shared ideas about music for a couple of years, sending demos back and forth and now I finally got some tracks off him for Secret Life along with his partners that make up Bambook & Andycap. Their Genius Child E.P is out July 15th and has picked up some great support from the likes of: Sasha, Joris Voorn, Nic Fanciulli, Tensnake, Slam, Kaiserdisco, Michel De Hey, Stephan Hinz, Betoko, Lee Curtis (Visionquest), Tom Budden, Kolombo, Buskwacka. To follow on from this there is a Bambook remix on our next Secret Life release, produced by Pete Gooding, out in August.

01. So tell us about yourselves guys, who are Bambook and Andycap, what history can you tell us about what you have been up to recently?

Bambook is consisting of Eiad Sayegh and Hannes Netzell and the alias Andycap embodies the talents of Andreas Schulz. We are all Stockholm based djs / Producers and good friends that share the same vision and love for the music. Currently we are working together on 2 more EPs and having upcoming gig locally and internationally. Andy has been busy releasing multiple remixes featuring different styles and artists such as, Boeoes Kaelstigen, Turboweekend, Tomas Barfod and others. The guy is virtually been on fire lately with his cross-genre ventures. His remix of Phoenix’s ‘ Fences’ quickly got over 10 000 views on YouTube over the summer. A much appreciated remix of Turboweekend’s ‘On My Side’ was released on Danish EMI and for Berlin based Get Physical records he made a debut with a stripped down, chilled out electro-pop remix for Tomas Barfod featuring Nina Kinert – ‘Till We Die’. Bambook , we have been busy producing and working very hard in the studio for moths now and its all paid of having our music released on esteemed labels such as Global Underground, Circus Recordings and Secret Life and have some big future tracks coming up on Get Physical Music, Faceless Recordings, Audio Tonic, as well as a whole host of remixes

02. How did these collaborations come about?

After releasing the superb EP Bambook ‘What’s The Use’ on Circus Recordings with Cari Golden and Andycap remixing Tomas Barfod on Get Physical Music we thought the time is right to get together and work on something new and fresh to push our projects forward. So we did it!!

03. Your sound encapsulates everything I love about what we are doing with Secret Life, from more Balearic atmospheric sounding stuff like ‘Physical Law’, then a more Deep House sound with ‘Directions’ and ‘Genius Child’ a more peak time intense track despite the fact that it’s under 120 bpm, what influences do you have to make such a great variety of stuff?

Well, I think the diversity in sound comes from the fact that we are three who worked on this EP and as you know having more than one mind input gives the advantage and opens the door for experimenting with ideas that the other person has and from their things begin to shape up towards one idea that combines all three styles perfectly.

04. What are your thoughts on the remix from up and coming U.K producer Teva?

To be honest, we was thrilled to have Teva remixing Genius Child as we are big fans of his work. If you listen to his to his ‘I Wanna Be’ on Off Recordings you would know what a talented producer he is! And man… what a tasteful and fantastic remix he delivered. We love it! In Teva’s own words ‘’ WOW. Bambook. Take a bow!!! That is an end of the night monster, Outrageous vocals.’’

05. What are the plans for next 12 months for you all?

Oh that is big question! But I will try to make it in a nutshell. Andycap just released a vinyl with his excellent tune called ‘Time will Not Let Us Stop’ On WMWL along side respected artists and we will have another EP together coming out on Needwant Sub-label called ‘Lights’ so keep a good eye on this one! As for Bambook the duo are having forthcoming releases on Get Physical Music under the tile ‘Narrow Road’ and on Faceless Recording ‘Give It Up’ with remixes from Chaim and Forrest as well as the long anticipated release ‘Vital Breath’ on Audio Tonic Records with remixes from Rodriguez Jr. and John Monkman. Not to forget on this month the 22nd July we will be releasing and EP with Cari Golden and Audio Junkies on Incorrect Music under the title ‘Bird On A wire’
