Steve Cobby

Steve Cobby is a UK based artist, record producer and DJ of 30 years standing. He Co-founded of Fila Brazillia 1990 and released 10 critically acclaimed albums and crated over 70 remixes for artists, as diverse as, Radiohead, Busta Rhymes, Black Uhuru, Simple Minds, James, A Certain Ratio and Moloko.

These days he records under his own name recent releasing the albums Saudade and Everliving on his own Declasse Label. In 2015 his single “We Start Over”, released on International Feel, was the genuine track of the summer.

He helped form Pork Recordings with David Brennand in 1991, then 23 Records in ’99 and Steel Tiger Records in 2006.  His other writing and production collaborations include Chieftain, The Cutler, Heights of Abraham, J*S*T*A*R*S and Hey, Rube!

He’s released two solo lp’s as The Solid Doctor, ‘How About Some Ether’ and ‘Beats Means Highs’. A third solo lp ‘Saudade’ was released in 2014 under his own name on his own label Déclassé. His solo remixes include work for as diverse a range of artists as Harold Budd, Summercamp and Theoretics.

The first Another Late Night mix compilation was provided by Fila Brazillia in 2000. By fusing both contemporary and vintage tracks it was a mould breaker and a subsequent critical and commercial success.

Steve helped co-produce ‘The Twilight Singers’, Gred Dulli of the Afghan Whigs debut solo venture and co-wrote and produced ‘Three White Roses and a Budd’ with Bill Nelson and American composer Harold Budd.

He’s collaborated with both Cabaret Voltaire’s Steven Mallinder, under the guise of ‘Hey Rube’ as well as releasing an EP with Richard H. Kirk as Citrus.

Adam Regan from Different Drummer Records and Leftfoot promotions in Birmingham is also a regular collaborator. Their project ‘Chieftain’ is currently garnering top feedback.

He’s DJ’d all over the globe. From Sydney to San Francisco, New York to Tokyo and performed live in Europe, Japan and the USA with Fila Brazillia.
